Hosted IT Services Provider – Rochester, NY

There are many terms thrown around in the technology industry that can cause some confusion. You may have heard some, cloud computing, working from the cloud, hosted solutions, IT services. Much of these are very broad terms that can be applied to many different things. Essentially, these all fall under Hosted IT Services Providers. LogicalSolutions.net is the premiere Hosted IT Services Provider servicing the Rochester, Buffalo, Syracuse and Albany regions.

As a Hosted IT Services provider, we provide a wide range of services from server colocation to private virtual clouds.  The primary difference between your traditional IT provider to a Hosted IT provider is the way your IT infrastructure is setup and where it lives. A traditional IT company will setup and manage your network onsite at your location. A Hosted IT provider will setup the majority of the network infrastructure in the cloud, or an offsite data center. There are many advantages for using an offsite facility. Most importantly are the reliability and the cost savings. You can dramatically reduce your costs for energy, licenses and hardware expenses. You can also free up your IT staff to stay focused on mission critical projects instead of updates and patches that can end up eating much of their time.

Grow your IT Support Staff with 24/7/365 Support while reducing Costs with LogicalSolutions.net Managed Services and Managed Applications.

Outlook Issues – I can’t receive emails!

There are a few easy checks you can run on your own to fix issues such as not being able to receive emails in Outlook before giving a call in to tech support.  The checks we’ll be covering are basic and not to technical.  Not all situations can be fixed on your own but these quick checks can help you save time when you have problem receiving emails.

Please be aware that this blog is assuming you haven’t made any changes to your Outlook Settings and you haven’t received any Outlook Errors.  If you have received errors or changed your settings, you can give us a call in with that information and the problem can be diagnosed with this relevant information.

First you’ll want to check to see if it’s an issue with your Outlook alone or if the whole office is experiencing issues.  Asking a couple of your neighbors if they’re experiencing issues is easy and quick and it’ll help isolate the problem.  If there’s an issue with your whole office not being able to receive emails, you should contact your manager or call-in to our Technical Support Team.  Once you know the issue is with your Outlook alone, this is where we can begin with a few quick measures to identify the issues so you can start receiving emails again.

Now we’re going to start to focus on what the problem could be.  We want to determine if the problem is within Outlook or at the server level.  If the issue is at the server level, you can give us a call to resolve this, but first let’s determine if the hitch is on the server side.  If you have not been receiving emails on the webmail client you can give a call to our Technical Support Team.  Log-in to your webmail client and see if your email account there has been receiving emails(this is your email account on our server).  To log-in to your webmail client you’ll need to find-out which mail server your webmail account resides on.  Your server is either mail.logicalsolutions.net or mail.logicalemail.com or one of our servers w/a number(ie. Mail2.logicalsolutions.net or mail3.logicalsolutions.net).  If you don’t know this information call us and we can help you determine where you email account is on our servers and we can go ahead and make a few checks at that point.  In a new web browser place the server information(ie. Mail.logicalsolutions.net) but there isn’t a need to add “www” or “http://”.  Just add the mail server and hit “Enter” on your keyboard.  Next you will put your full email address in as the username and your password and select “Log-in”.  If you are still having issues logging-in to your webmail client for this check, you can give a call-in and we can assist you.  If you have been getting emails in the webmail client but not in your Outlook there are a couple of possibilities.

Once you’re in the webmail client you’ll want to check how much space your account has and how much it’s using.  Your emails will be blocked if you’ve exceeded your allotted email disk space.  As long as you have already set your basic settings(time zone etc.) the opening page should go directly to  “My Today Page” and on the right side of your screen under “Unread Messages” you should see “Disk Space Limits”.  This is where you can view the limitations for your web email client.  If your account is full, it has exceeded the limits set and you would need to free-up/disk space so that new emails can flow-in to the server again.  Make sure all deleted emails are gone and not sitting in the deleted box.  If you need all of the emails that you have on the server you will need to call in and let us know this so we can give you the alternatives we have available for upgrading your email account so that you can keep your emails and begin receiving again.

If you have been receiving emails on the server the problem lies either with your Outlook Application or your email user set-up in Outlook.  At this point you would need to contact your local desktop support as you will need to look in to if you have a corrupt  user account in Outlook or your Outlook is corrupted on your computer.

Just to recap what we’ve covered, if you have issues with Outlook and the person next to you doesn’t, the problem is with your Outlook/workstation.  If no one in the office can get emails contact us.  Now that you’ve determined you’re the only one in the office that can’t receive emails, check your web client email.  If you’re receiving emails there but not in your Outlook the issue is with your Outlook Application or the Outlook Profile for set-up fir your email.  We suggest working your email profile first and then focus on your Outlook Application.  At this point your issue is a Desktop Support issue your on-site IT person should be able to handle.  If you haven’t received emails in your Outlook or on the web client(our server), check to make sure the limits of your email disk space aren’t exceeded.  If you’ve exceeded the limits you will need to delete unneeded emails and check to make sure the “Deleted Items” folder is empty.  If you have plenty of room and you’re still not getting emails you can give our Technical Support Team a call and make us aware of the checks that you have run and let us know that you’re still not receiving emails and we can assist you from that point.

Remember, our goal is #1 Customer Support!
